Thank you so much for highlighting the fabulous movie Once! It was my absolute favorite movie of 2007, and every friend that I've shared it with has been moved by it. You should have seen my sister afterwards - she was just dying to go out there on the streets of San Diego and change the world! It was 11:30pm though. And even her bigshot producer friend enjoyed it, from the production and angle and camera viewpoint, but he was also drawn to the story.
So don't go into it expecting a big Hollywood production with great quality and clear words - the camera is jumpy, the acting simple, and the Irish accents are hard to grasp sometimes, so you just have to trust that their body language and other signals throughout the movie will clue you in to what's going on (or cheat and watch it with the English sub-titles!)
However you do it, just rent it and watch it! The characters will draw you in with their honesty and emotional rawness, and by the end of their first song together, you'll find yourself hooked too.

So THAT'S why you had that candle kiosk back in the day!
